The Broadbent Building, with a rich history that spanned 125 years at 128 N 100 E, witnessed generations of change. Constructed in 1892, it became a cornerstone of downtown commerce and stood as one of Lehi's most recognizable historic landmarks. The building's elegant brickwork, arched windows, and distinctive BROADBENT & SON nameplate reflected the optimism of a growing community and the determination of merchants who contributed to Lehi’s economy.
For decades, residents of Lehi passed through its doors in search of clothing, dry goods, and everyday necessities. The Broadbent Building became woven into the fabric of the city itself, serving as a familiar gathering place that connected generations of Lehi families.
In 2017, after more than a century of service, the City of Lehi acquired the property as part of plans for the new Lehi civic center. Although the historic structure was ultimately demolished, its legacy did not fade. Recognizing the significance of the Broadbent Building history, bricks from the original structure were carefully salvaged and incorporated into the exterior façade of the community room located just off the lobby of the new city offices.
Today, these historic bricks provide a tangible connection between Lehi’s past and present. Visitors entering the Lehi civic center can still see and touch materials that once formed the walls of one of the city’s most beloved buildings. Though the Broadbent Building no longer stands, a piece of its legacy remains—honoring the merchants, pioneers, and families who helped shape Lehi while ensuring their story continues to be a vital part of Lehi’s future.
